A very warm welcometo our brilliant school!

Euxton Church of England Primary School Homepage

A very warm welcome to Euxton Church of England Primary School. On behalf of all the children, staff and governors I’d like to welcome you to our website.

I am very proud to be Headteacher of Euxton CE Primary School. It is so important to get primary education right. From an early age, children need to have a real love of learning, something which we aim to give all of our children from the very start of their school life. Each child must be given every opportunity to flourish, know that they are safe, unique, special and valued. At Euxton CE we provide a warm, happy and safe environment where children are guided to achieve their very best. Mrs Mairi Ash, Headteacher.

Latest BlogY4 Friday Blog - 04/04/25

It seems strange to be saying, 'Happy Easter' when Easter is such a long time away! But, as school is closed for the next two weeks, and next time we all see each other will be after Easter, then... Happy Easter! Have a great 2 weeks break; enjoy the sunshine (hopefully); don't eat too much chocolate! Welcome to the Year 4 Blog! Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings / times tables and lots more. Every Friday, the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning and make them aware of their homework. Moving to online homework has allowed us to become a more eco friendly school. Throughout the week we will be learning about the spelling rule in preparation for the quiz on Thursday. Spelling frame can be used for practise along with the spelling strategies shared on the blog below. Log in details for Spelling Frame or TT Rock Stars can be found on the inside cover of your child's Reading Record book. Homework Reading- Reading is one of the most important skills for children to master as it unlocks their imagination and allows them to access the rest of the curriculum. Please read with your childevery night. Asking questions improves key reading skills, such as retrieval and inference. E.g. "Why do you think the character is unhappy?" Please note that reading books will be changed when completed. Please write a note in your child's reading record book when a book has been completed and sign the relevant parent signature box. Thank you in advance. Spellings - Please find this weeks spellings below and a link to spelling frame. Please note that our spelling quiz will be on Thursday 24th April Spellings enjoy your Easter break Geography Fact of the Week! Mrs. Macdonald (our Geography boffin) has had a great idea! To make sure our knowledge of the world is solid, each class will be spotlighting a different country in Europe. We have Denmark! Each week, we will find and share a new fact on the blog... It is offically one of the happiest countries in the world! Fun facts about Denmark have to end with happiness - they're known for it! Denmark has been named the world's happiest country on numerous occasions, and remains to be very near top of the UN World Happiness Report, they're currently second. If you want a few insider tips on how you can get a bit more happiness in your life, you should check out this guide on 12 ways you can get happy in Denmark. Maths Problem of the Week Each week, a new maths problem will appear on the blog... Can you solve it? The answers will be posted in next week's blog! Previous week's answers... A) As A must be higher than 110, and B must be higher than 140, then A + B must be higher than 250! Our learning this week in Year 4 English It's been another week of writing! We have now written the introduction to our story, or build-up, or problem (wow these were gruesome!) and our resolution to the problem. After half term, we will be using these models to create our own independent write, but with one small change... Can it be written from Grendel's point of view? Easter Worship On Wednesday, we had an absolutely wonderful Easter Worship, a dress rehersal in front of the whole school, delivered by Years 3 and 4. They were a little bit nervous, but you couldn't tell at all! The reading was clear; the acting was brilliant; the singing was beautiful! Today, we went one step further! The main event, in front of friends and family... They were absolutely incredible! I know everyone involved, and all parents watching, were unbelievable proud of them! Safeguarding - morning routine If you are dropping off your child at the classroom door/ KS2 entrance door and need to pass a message on to a member of staff please do so by speaking to the staff member who monitors the door in the morning. If you need to enter school for any other reason, adults can only enter the school building via the main school entrance and seek assistance from the school office team. If you are attending a meeting with a member of staff, you must sign in at the front desk as a visitor and have an ID lanyard. Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school and children safe. Have a fantastic weekend! The Year 4 team

Latest BlogYear 2 Friday Blog- 4.4.25

Dear Parents, Year 2 have had a lovely week. We have enjoyed watching the wonderful Easter worship led by Years 3 and 4. It brought the Easter Story to life for the Year 2 children. Our learning this week in Year 2 English We have been focusing on formal letter writing this week. Using our text Dear Earth as a source of inspiration, we thought about what we feel grateful for whilst living on Earth, such as the water, the land, the sea, animals, travel, weather, as well as connections with other people. We then drafted our own letter to Sir David Attenborough. Maths We have continued to focus on quarters this week. The children have been working hard to learn how to recognise, name and find one quarter, two quarters, three quarters and four quarters of a shape, object or quantity. RE In our RE lessons this week, we have been making the link back to the Christian idea that Jesus came to build a bridge back to God. Jesus shows what God is like, and his example of offering forgiveness reminds Christians that God will forgive them, and that they should forgive others. We then revisited the question of why does Easter matter to Christians? The children all enjoyed acting out the story of Let's Be Friends Again! by Hans Wilhelm. Art We have all enjoyed learning about Picasso over the half term period. To complete the topic, the children cut up photographs of themselves and rearranged different parts (lips, eyes, mouth, nose) to create their own pictures in the style of Picasso. Have a look at our gallery to see more photographs of our Art lessons this week. Homework Reading - Please read as often as possible over the Easter holidays. Each child has been given two books to take home. Spellings - Please note that there are no new spellings to learn over the holiday period. A new spelling overview sheet will be sent home during the first week back after the Easter holidays. Please look over the common exception words below. Should you wish to revise the spellings learned this half term, please see the overview for spring term 2. Times tables - Please use times tables rock stars (or hit the button) to recap what has been learned to date. Log in details for Spelling Frame or TT Rock Stars can be found on the inside cover of your child's Reading Record book. Have a wonderful and restful Easter break. Thank you for your support this half term. The Year 2 team
