Year 6 Friday Blog-12th July
Date: 9th Jul 2024 @ 10:45pm
Dear parents,
Welcome to the Year 6 Friday blog!
Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings / times tables and lots more.
Thank you for your support with our new weekly blogs. It has been fantastic to hear the children talking about them in school this week. Every Friday the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning and make them aware of their homework. Moving to online homework has allowed us to become a more eco friendly school. Throughout the week we will be learning about the spelling rule in preparation for the quiz on Thursday. Spelling frame or your homework book can be used for practise along with the spelling strategies shared on the blog below. Please ask if your child requires a reminder of their log in details for Spelling Frame or TT Rock Stars.
Week ahead:
Homework
Homework for Summer 2-As we enter our final half term of Year 6, I have taken the opportunity to create a set of 4 pieces of homework, each feeding directly into our learning in the classroom. I have decided to give out these 4 mini-projects altogether so that the children can get to work on what inspires them, but please do take note of the deadlines. It is vitally important that the children bring their completed work to school on time as it will be used during their lessons. You will find the homework document below.
Reading - Reading is one of the most important skills for children to master as it unlocks their imagination and allows them to access the rest of the curriculum. Please ensure your child is still reading every night. Our libary day is Monday, when the class are given the opportunity to change their books. We also have plenty of books from our class library to choose from.

Our learning this week in Year 6MathsThis children presented me with lots of lovely prospective camping holidays in France-I might have to try them all out! We have moved onto a new project, which looks at the connections between maths and music. We are using this connections to help us compose a ternary piece of music. EnglishThis week we have immersed ourselves in the novel 'Kensuke's Kingdom.' We have completed lots of comprehension work, to enable us to understand the structure of the story. We have used in our writing as we write from the perspective of Kensuke meeting Michael for the first time. PEOn Thursday we enjoyed a wonderful Dance session for our PE lesson where we learnt a dance to The Greatest Showman's 'Come Alive!' Have a lovely weekend! The Year 6 team |
