Year 2 Friday Blog- 14.2.25
Date: 7th Feb 2025 @ 3:02pm
Dear parents,
Welcome to the Year 2 Friday blog!
Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings / times tables and lots more.

We have had great fun making up our own limericks based on our Paddington topic. We thought about the AABBA rhyming structure where the first two and last lines rhyme with one another, as well as lines three and four rhyming. Check out our class limerick below:
There once was a bear from Peru,
Who didn’t know what he would do,
He went home with Mister Brown,
And got rid of his frown,
Paddington no longer felt blue!
Maths
In our maths lessons this week we have been continuing to learn about multiplication and division. We have been focusing on sharing with a remainder, as well as grouping with no remainder. We have also been learning how to understand division using arrays.

Linked to our topic of Jesus Welcomes Everyone, we have been learning about various charities in our RE lesson. We have been focusing on the work of the Salvation Army and the charity Barnardo's. Class discussions have centred around how members of these organisations reflect the behaviour of Jesus. We have looked at the ways in which they show hospitality and welcome everyone.
Design and Technology
The children have shown great understanding of slider and lever mechanisms in our Design and Technology lesson. Having designed an astronaut and a rocket to use as part of their space posters, the children applied their skills acquired throughout the half term to make a slider mechanism ( to launch their rockets into space) and a lever mechanism (to move their astronaut and the moon).

We finished off the week with 'A Tour of the UK' morning. The children were each given a booklet and were given the opportunity to go on a tour of the classroom to find the capital cities, landmarks, rivers and flags for each of the countries within the United Kingdom.
