Hello Yellow

On World Mental Health Day, we wore yellow clothing and accessories to school, along with thousands of others across the UK. Thank you for helping us raise money for the Young Minds charity, showing young people that they’re not alone with their mental health.

Please find some activities linked to World Mental Health Day in the folder at the bottom of the blog.

Phonics Homework

Please find the weekly sheets as discussed during the meeting in the files section at the bottom of this blog. We have completed week 3 in class this week. Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound. There are also some examples of words to blend at the bottom of the sheet.

One thing we are noticing during our Phonic sessions is that the children are adding an 'uh' when saying the phonemes. As I mentioned during the meeting it is really important that the children learn to say pure sounds for the phonemes. If you are unsure please go on the Little Wandle website to watch videos of how to correctly say the pure sounds or have a chat with one of us and we would be happy to explain.

We have introduced our first 'tricky' word this week, see the week 3 sheet in the files section to find out what it is!

Show and Tell

Thankyou for your continued support with this. Next week the children can share their phonic homework during our Show and Tell session, either by bringing in their work or sharing a photo of what they have done via Seesaw.

Reading Books

Thankyou for your co operation with the discussion books we have sent home. Please ensure they are sent in each day as we do have Reading helpers who can listen to child in School. As previously mentioned we will change these books every Tuesday and Thursday. The ideal is a little time spent every night looking at the book together and enjoying it!

Library Books

We hope you enjoyed sharing the Library book your child brought home last Friday.

Please return by Wednesday each week ready to be changed on Friday.

Reminders

- Please send a named coat in EVERY day especially now the weather is changing.

- Please make sure hair is tied up for PE (Tuesdays and Thursdays).

- If your child needs an umbrella to use when walking to school please take it home after drop off as they won't use it during the school day. We have two in school that need collecting from last week!

- Please ensure all your child's clothes are named. Could you also check that you haven't ended up with anybody elses clothes as we have a couple of cardigans missing!

Thankyou for your continued support.

Have a lovely weekend!

From

Ms Lucas, Mrs Critchley and Mrs Gifford.
