Reception Blog 1.11.2024

Date: 29th Oct 2024 @ 4:14pm

Dear Parents,

Welcome to our weekly Reception blog!

We have all enjoyed being back in School and have been very busy in class. We have been learning about Christianity for Multi Faith week. The children have learnt about where Christians go to worship, what books they use and the about symbols linked to the faith. We recreated some of the objects we might find in the Church using junk materials.

Phonics Homework

Please find the weekly sheets as discussed during the meeting in the files section at the bottom of this blog. We have completed week 5 in class this week. Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound. There are also some examples of words to blend at the bottom of the sheet.

We have introduced our third 'tricky' word this week, see the week 5 sheet in the files section to find out what it is!

Show and Tell

Thankyou for your continued support with this. Next week we would like the children can share a celebration they have been part of, maybe a party, a wedding or a religious event. This could be a photograph shared on Seesaw or brought into School.

Reading Books

Following the assessments I have completed on the phonemes learnt so far I will send a message on Seesaw to let you know of any your child needs to keep practising. Some children are now blending the sounds and beginning to read words so the reading books will change to word books as and when your child is ready. Please ensure they are sent in each day as we do have reading helpers who can listen to child in School. As previously mentioned we will change these books every Tuesday and Thursday. The ideal is a little time spent every night looking at the book together and enjoying it!

Library Books

We hope you enjoyed sharing the Library book your child brought home last Friday.

Please return by Wednesday each week ready to be changed on Friday.

Reminders

- Please send a named coat in EVERY day especially now the weather is changing.

- Please make sure hair is tied up for PE (Tuesdays and Thursdays).

- If your child needs an umbrella to use when walking to school please take it home after drop off as they won't use it during the school day. We have two in school that need collecting from last week!

- Please ensure all your child's clothes are named. Could you also check that you haven't ended up with anybody elses clothes as we have a couple of cardigans missing!
