Reception Blog 4.10.2024
Date: 4th Oct 2024 @ 8:01am
Dear Parents,
Welcome to our weekly Reception blog!
The lollystick challenges this week were:
To sort items into past and present.
To practise our new graphemes independently.
To draw and then write captions about the baby photgraphs in the Curiosity Cube.
Phonics HomeworkPlease find the weekly sheets as discussed during the meeting in the files section at the bottom of this blog. We have completed week 2 in class this week. Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound. There are also some examples of words to blend at the bottom of the sheet. Thankyou for sending in photos of your children practising at home, we have shared these and praised them for their efforts with team points! One thing we are noticing during our Phonic sessions is that the children are adding an 'uh' when saying the phonemes. As I mentioned during the meeting it is really important that the children learn to say pure sounds for the phonemes. If you are unsure please go on the Little Wandle website to watch videos of how to correctly say the pure sounds or have a chat with one of us and we would be happy to explain.Show and TellThankyou for all the baby photos! The children have loved showing them and telling us about them. This will carry on into next week to make sure everyone has shown their photo and talked to the class about it!
Reading BooksThankyou for your co operation with the discussion books we have sent home. Please ensure they are sent in each day as we do have Reading helpers who can listen to child in School. As previously mentioned we will change these books every Tuesday and Thursday. The ideal is a little time spent every night looking at the book together and enjoying it!
Library BooksWe hope you enjoyed sharing the Library book your child brought home last Friday. Please return by Wednesday each week ready to be changed on Friday.
Request from Mrs Ash.As we have our Open Day approaching Mrs Ash has asked me to ask if anyone would be happy to write a short paragraph she can share about your experience of your child starting our School. You can send these to me to pass on or directly to Mrs Ash at [email protected]
Reminders- Please send a named coat in EVERY day especially now the weather is changing.- Please make sure hair is tied up for PE (Tuesdays and Thursdays).- If your child needs an umbrella to use when walking to school please take it home after drop off as they won't use it during the school day. We have two in school that need collecting from last week!
We are looking forward to our Wellbeing Week next week when we will be enjoying lots of activities with the rest of the school. Look out for photographs on Seesaw and in next weeks blog.
Thankyou for your continued support.Have a lovely weekend!FromMs Lucas, Mrs Critchley and Mrs Gifford.
