Reception Blog 7th March 2025
Date: 4th Mar 2025 @ 3:06pm
Dear Parents,
Our stories this week have been 'Dinosaur Poems' and 'Dinosaurs Galore'.
Literacy:
We have begun to research different Dinosaurs using the iPads and non fiction books so we will be ready to write our own Dinosaur Factfiles next week.
Maths:
We have rolled dice and added the amounts, then recognised the numerals.
Science Week:
We have enjoyed a variety of Science activities throughout the week. We particularly enjoyed the Science Show on Tuesday.
World Book Day:
We all shared our favourite book from home and made bookmarks with our friends. We also wrote a book review, played 'I Spy' fairy tales and drew our favourite book characters.
Trip to 'Imagine That'.
We loved exploring in the Imagination area, making slime and of course the coach ride!
Ramadan:
We enjoyed finding out about Ramadan, we looked at artefacts and watched a video. Then shared what we had learnt with Jofli Bear.
Phonics Homework
Please find the weekly sheets for this half term in the files section at the bottom of this blog. Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound.
PLEASE continue to practise the new sounds each week with your child.
Show and Tell
Your child can bring in anything linked to our topic of Dinosaurs!
Reading Books
Please ensure they are sent in every day as we do have reading helpers who can also listen to child in School. The ideal is a little time spent every night looking at the book together and enjoying it!
Library Books
Library books will be coming home tonight.
Please return by Wednesday each week ready to be changed on Friday.
Reminders
- Please make sure hair is tied up for PE (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
- Please help your child to practise zipping up their own coat, now the weather is getting colder and wetter.
- Please ensure all your child's clothes are named. Could you also check that you haven't ended up with anybody elses clothes as we still have a couple of cardigans missing!
- If your child needs to use lip balm could you please send it in in a named bag for the teachers to look after and oversee them putting it on.
