Reception Blog 8.11.2014
Date: 6th Nov 2024 @ 9:15am
Dear Parents,
Welcome to our weekly Reception blog!
Another busy week working on our new topic and learning about the Celebration of Diwali, sharing our own experiences of celebrations as well as learning new sounds and practising subitising in maths!
We all particularly enjoyed breaking the rules on Friday!
This weeks lollystick challenges:
Create a firework using paint and glitter.
|
We discussed then drew what we could see in the Curiosity Cube.
We designed and made a Diva lamp out of clay.
Phonics Homework
Please find the weekly sheets as discussed during the meeting in the files section at the bottom of this blog. We have completed week 1 Autumn 2 in class this week. Use the sheet however it works for you. Some people may want to print it out or just use the information to say the phoneme, write the grapheme and play games thinking about things that start with that sound. There are also some examples of words to blend at the bottom of the sheet.
Show and Tell
Thankyou for your continued support with this. Next week we would like the children to share their library book. The new book will come home on Friday, so if you could read it over the weekend and maybe take a photograph and send in on Seesaw they can tell the class what they liked about the story.
Reading Books
Please ensure they are sent in each day as we do have reading helpers who can also listen to child in School. As previously mentioned we will change these books every Tuesday and Thursday if you have signed the reading record book to say they have read. The ideal is a little time spent every night looking at the book together and enjoying it!
Library Books
We hope you enjoyed sharing the Library book your child brought home last Friday.
Please return by Wednesday each week ready to be changed on Friday.
Reminders
- Please send a named coat in EVERY day especially now the weather is changing.
- Please make sure hair is tied up for PE (Tuesdays and Thursdays).
- If your child needs an umbrella to use when walking to school please take it home after drop off as they won't use it during the school day. We have two in school that need collecting from last week!
- Please ensure all your child's clothes are named. Could you also check that you haven't ended up with anybody elses clothes as we have a couple of cardigans missing!
NEXT WEEK!
Odd Socks Day
Odd Socks Day marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week. Odd Socks Day 2024 is taking place on Tuesday 12th November. It is supported by CBeebies presenter & ABA patron Andy Day and his band 'Andy and the Odd Socks'.
The Andy and the Odd Socks team came up with the idea for Odd Socks Day with us in 2017, and we work together every year to deliver the all inclusive message the event encourages.
Most importantly, Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!
There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or to buy expensive costumes. All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks to your school, at work of at home, it couldn’t be simpler! Odd Socks day will take place on the first day of Anti-Bullying Week each year to help raise awareness of bullying. We would like to invite participating schools and workplaces to ask participants to make a £1 donation - or any donation you think appropriate - to support us in continuing to coordinate the week every year.
Next Friday 15th November, we will support Children in Need by having a sporty day inspired by the Gladiators! Children to come to school in sporty clothes on Friday to take part in an obstacle course using the large apparatus in the school hall. (Please note children to wear school uniform on Tuesday and sporty clothes on Friday). We will also watch the Children in Need live stream for schools in the morning after assembly. A £1 donation is suggested and we will send all donations to this special charity.
Thankyou for your continued support.
Have a lovely weekend.
From
Ms Lucas, Mrs Critchley and Mrs Gifford.
