Dear parents,

Welcome to the Reception Friday blog!

Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class. 

Homework

Reading - Reading is one of the most important skills for children to master as it unlocks their imagination and allows them to access the rest of the curriculum. Please read with your child every night. We have challenged the children to read with their adult and get their reading record signed each night to recieve an extra orange lollystick towards our weekly lollystick challenges.

Phonics - Please find the Phonics homework sheets for this half term in the files below. The Yellow book no longer needs to be returned to School each week. As always any questions please ask!

Our learning this week in Reception

We have read

'The Three Little Pigs'

 

The Lollystick Challenges.

Green (Literacy) To retell the story of The Three Little Pigs.

Yellow (Maths) Adding and subtraction.

Blue (Creative) Design, make and test a house for the pigs.

Red - (Understanding the World) Describe and ask questions about what you can see in the Curiosity Cube!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sports Day

We all had a fabulous time taking part in the races on Sports Day.

Thankyou to everyone who came to watch us and cheer us on!

 

 

In Phonics we continue to practise our digraphs and trigraphs as well as reading and writing the tricky words. We are also practising reading longer words by sounding them out but also 'chunking' the sounds to help us read the word.

This week we have also been been making sure we are formimg all our letters correctly. Keep practising at home (Please visit the Little Wandle parent page via the link on our class page for more information)

IMPORTANT INVITATION

 

On Friday 12th July ALL Reception parents are invited to join us in Friday Worship to celebrate their child's first year at Euxton C of E.

The children will each recieve a special certificate and we will be having refreshments in the classroom afterwards.
