Year 1 Friday Blog - 12th July 2024

Date: 12th Jul 2024 @ 7:02pm

Dear parents,

Welcome to the Year 1 Friday blog!

We have had another busy week. Euxton Factor auditions, DT creations and a dance day!

Homework

Reading - Reading is one of the most important skills for children to master as it unlocks their imagination and allows them to access the rest of the curriculum. Please read with your child every night. Question prompts are provided within reading books, coloured book marks and reading records. Asking questions improves key reading skills, such as retrieval and inference.

Spellings - There is no spelling quiz next week.

Euxton Factor

On Tuesday, we held our Euxton Factor auditions in class. We have so many talented children and it was lovely to see them performing for the rest of the class. We can't wait to watch our finalists on Wednesday!

Dance Day

Thursday was our dance day and we had lots of fun making up moves for our names and learning a dance routine.

Thank you to Miss Anna for teaching us all and making it so enjoyable!

Our learning this week in Year 1

ENGLISH
We have been looking at our model text in more detail. We have pulled it apart and analysed it using our writing toolkit. We have also followed our model text by making a scroll. Next week, we will be writing our own set of instructions using our model text as inspiration.

MATHS
This week, we have been looking at fractions. We have found 1/4 and 1/2 of shapes and numbers. We have started learning about turns.

SCIENCE
This week, we have been helping our Alien friend, Blot to find which plant he can and can't eat.

Have a fantastic weekend!
