Year 2 Friday Blog- 21.3.25
Date: 14th Mar 2025 @ 5:38pm

Dear parents,
Welcome to the Year 2 Friday blog!
Each week you will find out what we have been learning in class. Homework for the week ahead is also posted on the blog every Friday.
Our learning this week in Year 2
English
We have been thinking about the planet this week. Having studied the life of Sir David Attenborough, we then went on to read the text entitled Dear Earth. Analysing various examples of formal letters helped us to plan a formal letter to Sir David Attenborough, outlining how we can help save the planet.
Maths
Shape has been the focus of our maths lessons this week. We have been learning about 2D shape symmetry. We have also been looking at how to describe and sort 3D shapes. At the end of the week, we moved on to recognising, naming and finding one quarter, two quarters, three quarters and four quarters of a shape and object.

We have been furthering our knowledge of Easter symbols. The children have all come up with some excellent discussion points as to why they believe that certain symbols are used to represent different parts of the Easter Story.
Music and French Taster Sessions
Year 2 loved their taster sessions for both French and music. Mrs. Tattersall and Mr. Crane were delighted with their efforts and are looking forward to teaching the class in September.
