Dear parents,
Welcome to the Year 2 Friday blog!
We have all been enjoying time in the sunshine this week.
Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings / times tables and lots more.
Thank you for your support with our new weekly blogs. It has been fantastic to hear the children talking about them in school this week. Every Friday the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning and make them aware of their homework. Moving to online homework has allowed us to become a more eco friendly school. Throughout the week we will be learning about the spelling rule in preparation for the quiz on Thursday. Spelling frame or your homework book can be used for practise along with the spelling strategies shared on the blog below. Please ask if your child requires a reminder of their log in details for Spelling Frame or TT Rock Stars.
Homework
Well done to everyone who has spent time on both spelling frame and TT Rock Stars this week!
Reading - Reading is one of the most important skills for children to master as it unlocks their imagination and allows them to access the rest of the curriculum. Please read with your child every night. Question prompts are provided within reading books, coloured book marks and reading records. Asking questions improves key reading skills, such as retrieval and inference.
Spellings - Please find this weeks spellings below and a link to spelling frame. Red homework books do not need to be returned to school.
Times table / Division facts - This week the children need to focus on 2,5 and 10 times tables and division facts on TT Rock Stars.
I will be keeping track of all children logging into both Spelling Frame and TT Rockstars. I recommend 10 minutes on both, as many nights as possible.

Our learning this week in Year 2
Maths
In Maths we have been consolidating our learning on place value. We have partitioned 2 digit numbers in lots of ways and placed numbers on an empty numberline.
English
In English we are creating dragons. This week we have described dragons and made our own Top Trumps Dragon game. From this will be writing a non chronological report about our own dragon.
Geography
In Geography we have continued to learn about our partner school, Mikoroshoni Primary School. We used Google Earth to look at human and physical features in their surrounding area.
Next Tuesday (25th June) - Trip to Clitheroe Castle
The weather forecast shows a hot day for our trip. Please ensure the children bring a hat and have suncream applied before coming to school. Part of our day will be spent outside.
