Year 2 Friday Blog - 24.1.25
Date: 12th Jan 2025 @ 5:11pm
Dear parents,
Welcome to the Year 2 Friday blog!
Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings / times tables and lots more.
Our learning this week in Year 2
English
The children are thoroughly enjoying our Paddington topic. This week, we have been using a range of conjunctions in our writing, including when, if, because, although, while, since, until, before, after and so. The children wrote some super letters to Aunt Lucy which we enjoyed sharing with one another. We have also been focusing on the use of capital letters for proper nouns when creating our own true or false quiz about the text.
Maths
In our maths lessons this week we have learning about addition and subtraction with exchange. The children have used base ten equipment to exchange tens for ones. We have also been focusing on subtraction with difference. At the end of the week, the children all worked really hard to solve word problems applying the skills learned in previous lessons.
Science
We have been learning all about living and non-living things in our science lessons this week. We used the MRS GREN poster to help us categorise photographs using the titles LIVING and NON-LIVING THINGS.
RE
Our topic this half term is Jesus Welcomes Everyone. We have been learning about The Ten Lepers Bible story this week (Luke 17:11-19). The children acted out the story in groups and we added some freeze-frame activities to depict different scenes.
Have a look at our gallery to see some more of the photographs taken during our RE lesson this week.

To help support your child’s learning, I would like all of the children to use the letter chart below to write given sentences at home.
