Dear Parents,

Year 2 have had a lovely week.  We have enjoyed watching the wonderful Easter worship led by Years 3 and 4. It brought the Easter Story to life for the Year 2 children.

English

We have been focusing on formal letter writing this week. Using our text Dear Earth as a source of inspiration, we thought about what we feel grateful for whilst living on Earth, such as the water, the land, the sea, animals, travel, weather, as well as connections with other people. We then drafted our own letter to Sir David Attenborough.

Maths

We have continued to focus on quarters this week. The children have been working hard to learn how to recognise, name and find one quarter, two quarters, three quarters and four quarters of a shape, object or quantity.

RE

In our RE lessons this week, we have been making the link back to the Christian idea that Jesus came to build a bridge back to God. Jesus shows what God is like, and his example of offering forgiveness reminds Christians that God will forgive them, and that they should forgive others. We then revisited the question of why does Easter matter to Christians? The children all enjoyed acting out the story of Let's Be Friends Again! by Hans Wilhelm.

Art

We have all enjoyed learning about Picasso over the half term period. To complete the topic, the children cut up photographs of themselves and rearranged different parts (lips, eyes, mouth, nose) to create their own pictures in the style of Picasso.
