Dear parents

WELCOME TO THE YEAR 5 BLOG GIF.gif

Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings / times tables and lots more.

Every Friday, the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning and make them aware of their homework. Moving to online homework has allowed us to become a more eco friendly school. Throughout the week we will be learning about the spelling rule in preparation for the quiz on Thursday. Spelling frame can be used for practise along with the spelling strategies shared on the blog below.

This Week in English: Exploring The Explorer 🌍📚

This week in English, the children have been reading more of The Explorer by Katherine Rundell! 🧗‍♂️✨ We discovered how the explorer arrived in the ancient secret city in the Amazon rainforest.

This exciting story is helping the children get ideas for their own writing next week. I can't wait to see what they create! 📝💭

We have also been working on quizzes related to our learning this half term. It's fantastic to see everyone engaging and doing their best! 🎉 🌟

Exploring the Meaning of Salvation

This week in RE, we have been learning about the meaning of salvation from a Christian perspective. 📖✝️ Our explorations led us through the Stations of the Cross, where we considered the significance of biblical quotes and what they truly mean to us as individuals and as a community.

In a collaborative atmosphere, the children engaged in thoughtful discussions, sharing varying viewpoints and insights. This exchange not only enriched their understanding but also promoted essential oracy skills, allowing them to articulate their thoughts clearly and respectfully. 🗣️🤝

We further delved into a challenging yet vital topic: who should bear the blame for the death of Jesus? Through respectful debate, the children structured their opinions, placing individuals in order of responsibility while providing reasoned arguments for their choices. It was truly wonderful to see the children in deep contemplation, grappling with such significant questions that have echoed through history. 🤔

These discussions not only enhance their understanding of religious narratives but also foster critical thinking and empathy amongst peers.  🌟

🚲 Our Young Cyclists Complete Their Bikeability Course! 🎉

This week has been a thrilling ride for the children as they successfully completed their Bikeability Course! 🚴‍♂️✨ Over the past few days, the children have not only enjoyed the open roads but have also gained invaluable skills and confidence that will last a lifetime.

Throughout the course, they learned essential cycling techniques, road safety measures, and how to navigate traffic effectively. We have seen a remarkable transformation in their confidence as they tackled the challenges set before them. Their smiles reflecting pride and accomplishment were truly inspiring!

Not only does this course equip the children with vital skills, but it also encourages a lifelong love of cycling, promotes healthy habits, and fosters a sense of responsibility as they become more aware of their surroundings while on the road.

A big thank you to our incredible instructors who guided the children every step of the way! 👏

Take a look at the gallery for photographs capturing their amazing journey during the Bikeability Course!📸
