Children to come to school in sporty clothes on Friday to take part in an obstacle course using the large apparatus in the school hall. (Please note children to wear school uniform on Tuesday and sporty clothes on Friday). We will also watch the Children in Need live stream for schools in the morning after assembly.                                                                                              ODD SOCKS DAY

Odd Socks Day marks the start of Anti-Bullying Week. Odd Socks Day 2024 is taking place on Tuesday 12th November. It is supported by CBeebies presenter & ABA patron Andy Day and his band 'Andy and the Odd Socks'.

The Andy and the Odd Socks team came up with the idea for Odd Socks Day with us in 2017, and we work together every year to deliver the all inclusive message the event encourages.

Most importantly, Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!

There is no pressure to wear the latest fashion or to buy expensive costumes. All you have to do to take part is wear odd socks to your school, at work of at home, it couldn’t be simpler! Odd Socks day will take place on the first day of Anti-Bullying Week each year to help raise awareness of bullying. We would like to invite participating schools and workplaces to ask participants to make a £1 donation - or any donation you think appropriate - to support us in continuing to coordinate the week every year.

Each week you will find out what we have been doing in class, weekly spellings / times tables and lots more.

Every Friday, the blog will be shared with the class to recap our learning and make them aware of their homework. Moving to online homework has allowed us to become a more eco friendly school. Throughout the week we will be learning about the spelling rule in preparation for the quiz on Thursday. Spelling frame can be used for practise along with the spelling strategies shared on the blog below.

Homework

Reading - Reading is one of the most important skills for children to master as it unlocks their imagination and allows them to access the rest of the curriculum. Please read with your child every night. Question prompts are provided within reading records asking questions improves key reading skills, such as retrieval and inference.

They have then written their own poem based on the model of 'The Listeners'. The children have also taken part in their second Literacy Kicks session, this involved them finding out abou an amazing friendship formed through sport .

Science

During our science session this week, the children had a discussion about what they already know about our new topic 'Earth and Space'. They spoke about observations that they have made when they have seen the moon and looked at the planets relative to the Sun in the solar system.

This week, the children took part in a training session with Chorley Sports Partnership. The session was learning how to be Playground activity Leaders (PALS) and focussed on what meakes a good coaching session for the younger children in school. The children are very excited to put this training into action during lunchtime play.

Take a look at the gallery to see photographs from our learning with Chorley Sports Partnership.
