Year 6-Friday Blog
Date: 13th Mar 2025 @ 4:58pm
Dear Parents,
Year 6 have worked very hard all week. Next week we are going to practise a full set of SATS papers, using the normal timetable. This is so that the children have had the experience of a 'SATS week' before they complete them on the week commencing 12th May. As usual, all papers will be sent home once they have been marked and recorded. You can support your child by ensuring they have plenty of early nights next week!

Our learning this week in Year 6
Thank you for our contributions about Slovakia! You can research anything that interests you; including footballers, food or fashion. Let's have the best Country noticeboard in Key Stage 2!
English
This week in English, the children have written non-chronlogical reports about the Dreamgiver, based on the animation below. We have continued to focus upon correct grammar and punctuation and they are fantastic at supporting one another with this. Take a look at the animation below.
Maths
This week we have learnt about the rules of ratio and used these to find missing numbers. We have also continued to think about how we can think logically about more challenging problems. We have to remind ourselves that all the information is there, we just need to unpick it! Take a look at an example of a ratio problem below:
RE
This week the children looked at Acts Chapter 2, which gives an account of the Pentecost. Our focus was upon the changes noticed in Peter before and after this event.
Geography
We enjoyed a fascinating Geography lesson, learning all about the causes of flooding. There was plenty of super discussion going on and we had enough time to look up the 'most dangerous stretch of river in the world' which resides only 1 hour away from us! To prove just how famous it was, we read an article which was written in the New York Times.
